The Rumble 2017

The Rumble is a party road trip that is 8 days and 8 nights long.

The Rumble is party road trip for you and your friends. We just make it happen!

The Rumble is 2300km long.

The Rumble is for Matrics only.

The Rumble includes awesome back-packers every night.

The Rumble includes pre-drinks for every night’s party.

The Rumble takes you to bars you might never see again.

The Rumble is for legends only.

The Rumble is awesome.

The Rumble is sick.

The Rumble will blow your mind.

So why rage when you can rumble?

Shit. Let’s get ready to rumble, son.

Please note that if you are not 18 yet you CAN still come! :) You will just need a parent to sign your indemnity forms. Aweh.

Matric 2017, you’re free!

It’s been 12 long, hard, awesome and horrible years but finally, it’s over.

You’re free!

Yes, we know the feeling of freedom and like you, we love it. And if you love it as much as we do, you too are drooling at the possibility of what it all means. Vac is here! Vac bitches – so pull yourself towards yourself, wax your hair and shave your legs – because it’s about to get messy. Very messy.

Let’s get ready to rumble.

But why Rumble with us anyway?

It’s vac! It’s our job to be the responsible ones and keep you safe on the roads. It’s your job to party.

  1. We drive so there’s none of that designated driver crap. Yes please.
  2. We drive so that you don’t have to struggle for 2300km when you’re hungover as hell. We know those demons.
  3. We take you to all those awesome places you’ve been trying to convince you friends to go to but no one ever seems to organise it! Finally.
  4. We organise all of your accommodation so that you don’t have to do all that crappy admin. You’re welcome.
  5. We take you to the sickest parties so that you don’t have to find them. What a pleasure.

About our Guides:

All of our guides have their professional driving permit (PdP) and are all over 23. They’re all legends and they, like you, all know how important it is to have a sick vac! Like a good report, it’s probably the most important part of your schooling career. Let’s be serious.

When’s the rumble?

Please note: our guides will kindly drop you at the airport on the day the rumble ends if you’re returning to Johannesburg that afternoon. Please be careful to book your flights later that afternoon/evening so that we can get you to the airport on time! We unfortunately cannot provide lifts to the airport the day after the final day and beyond.

  1. START

    That’s up to you!

    8 days later!

What’s the route?

As per our Terms and Conditions (found below), this route may slightly change if it’s out of our control – or if we decide to go somewhere that’s a little bit different because it adds more party to the party. But, you will be informed of all changes before you trip (please see Procedures and Payment below).

Day 1 – The Rumble in the Mountains.

Nieu Bethesda (Eastern Cape)

946268_10151708063951329_1984199528_nAfter a long day’s drive, we’ll settle into the Eastern Cape Mountains at Nieu-Bethesda – there’s a bar and braai here that will rip your socks off; the adjoining pic was taken at that exact pub and do not be fooled. You can literally spend your entire budget here so be careful. Or not. Rumble away.

Day 2 – The Rumble on the Beach, Round 1!

What can we say about Kenton that hasn’t been said already. Dop, soup or poesa. However you say it, it will be one sick jol – not to mention chilling on beautiful Cape beaches that will make Durban look like Wild Waters.

Day 3 – The Rumble on the Beach, Round 2!

Jeffrey’s Bay (via Grahamstown)

surfing20_thumbYa, of course we’ll have some beers in Grahamstown at the famous Rhodes Rat. I mean, what do you think this is bro? 😉 As an aside, you should probably then surf at Jeffrey’s to ease the hangover. Just saying. That night? Well, that night is your night to rumble.

Day 4- The Rumble on the Beach, Round 3!

Plettenberg Bay (via the Bloukrans jump)

You know, as well as I know, that there will be that one friend who won’t jump. And you know, as well as I know, that you’ll probably be that oke/chick who’ll pressure them to do it. Why you gotta be like that!? 😉 But on a serious note, Plett will be a rumble no doubt. Always is.

Day 5 – The Rumble in the Desert.

 Oudtshoorn (via the Outeniqua pass)

We’ll stop in at the Cango Caves for the deep adventure tour. Not for the claustrophobic – and I suspect not for the hungover either. But so chilled. Up top, we’ll ride Ostriches before settling in for a party beneath the Karoo stars. There is no place like South Africa, is there? Small town rumble for days. Keen!

Day 6 – The Rumble in the Winelands.

Stellenbosch (via the famous Ronnie’s sex shop)

tram2_Rotator.635640001604106707Stellies that night. Say no more. But before then, we’ll def hit a little wine tour, for sure – perhaps on the Franshoek tram? This will be finalised closer to trip itself as availability changes depending on the amount of trippers on the rumble. But where we start will be at Ronnies Pub – and what happens at Ronnies, stays at Ronnies. Eish.

Day 7 – The Rumble on the Point.

Kalk Bay

kalk_bay_306_230_80There are not many things in life that all people in this beautiful country can appreciate together and wholeheartedly. Yes, beach bars are one of those rare things! This sick little town is full of them and drinks will flow like there’s no tomorrow. But there will be a tomorrow. And you’ll get an emotional drunk just thinking about the rumble to come!  😉

Day 8 – The Rumble in the Shadow.

Cape Town CBD (via Chapman’s Peak)

We’ll head up Table Mountain because we can – but if you’ve been up there already, chilled; let’s have a couple of  day mare soups in town 😉 Casual. That night, in true South African style, we’ll cheers each in the heart of Long Street while we rumble our faces off! Believe it or not, school is finally over. You’re free!

And That’s when it hits you. Ladies and gentleman, you have just completed your first epic Rumble and you’re alive… barely.

You’re welcome.

If you would like to gauge how much spending money you’ll need to do the awesome things along the way, you can do so by checking out our Road Trip Starter Kit at, but they will also be listed with their prices in your registration pack. You can tick these if you would like us to book them in advance for you.  If there are other things you would also like to do on the way, just let us know. It’s your road trip after all, and we’ll see if we can make it happen!

Remember, you don’t have to do everything that we suggest but much of the road trip is designed around these excursions to maximise the Rumble! We sincerely suggest you partake in all the activities along the way.

How much will it cost?

Remember, your costs include your seat and accommodation for the entire road trip – at awesome backpackers throughout! It also includes pre-drinks for every night’s party. What’s pre-drinks you ask? 14 drinks per van! (vans hold 7 btw).

These costs exclude your spending money, food, additional booze and daily adventures, some of which can be charged to your invoice if you request them in advance in your registration pack.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The logistics: Our Rumble vans accommodate for seven vaccers each. You may book as many vans as you would like for you and your friends and prices will fluctuate depending on how big your specific party is.

Priced from R8990/person/trip.

  • Note: Please only make payment once everyone in your road trip has registered with us and an invoice has been dispatched. You must reference this invoice with every payment made. MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD only invoices for entire vans and not for individual seats so gather your friends and bring down the price. Keen!

So how do you get involved? Procedures and Payment.

We recommend getting one of your friends to liase with us throughout this process.

  1. Call us to chat about availability. If there is still space, request a registration pack.
  2. You should submit your registration packs to us by the closing date: Friday, 13 May 2016

Old Ronnie. This strange and awesome bar is worth having a drink at. It’s probably the strangest you’ll ever find and you’ll remember it forever. Heavy! We like to drink with Ronnie cos Ronnie is our mate, and when we drink with Ronnie, he finishes in 8, 7, 6…

You agree to comply with the authority and decisions of the appointed MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD guide and the laws of the country in which you are travelling. If you do not so comply or if, in the MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD Guide’s opinion you are not compatible with the general enjoyment and well being of other members on the road trip or smooth operation of the road trip itself, we reserve the right to refuse to let you continue with the road trip. We do not tolerate the possession or carriage of illegal or restricted substances (drugs). Furthermore, you agree that your fellow travellers and any MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD Representative have the right to travel/work in a safe environment. Any threats to their safety, well being or inappropriate behaviour by you, whether verbal or physical, will be taken extremely seriously and may result in the immediate termination of your road trip. In either event, you will not be refunded for your road trip and you will be responsible for your own repatriation and related costs and have no claims against us.

5.5.1 You are responsible for any costs incurred as a result of damage or excess cleaning fees related to your accommodation. You are advised to immediately report any pre-existing damage in your room to accommodation staff and/or a MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD guide as soon as it is discovered.

5.6 All persons, both drivers and passengers, who partake in a road trip with MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD do so entirely at their own risk. They are required to adhere to the traffic laws and regulations of every country in which they travel.

  • In the case of road trippers who road trip by use of our vehicles, any speed fine or law-breaking offence, financial in nature, procured by an individual of that vehicle during a road trip that is the fault of the person/s of that particular vehicle and not MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD, will be charged collectively to the members of that particular vehicle and they will be liable for settling those costs either during the road trip itself or after they have returned to their home country. MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD shall not tolerate any negligence in the operation of its vehicles and/or criminality. 5.8 It is your responsibility to have a valid passport and all visas, permits and certificates required for your selected road trip as well as any necessary vaccinations, and to comply with all applicable laws. MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD is not responsible for any costs incurred as a result of failing to obtain necessary visas. Any costs whatsoever regarding obtaining, replacing or changing visas whilst on a trip (including accommodation, meals, flights and transfers incurred due to associated delays) are at your own expense. If you are denied entry at a border post for not possessing the required documentation or vaccinations, MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD will unfortunately have no choice but to continue the road trip without you. But, if you are able to rejoin us at a later stage, all costs incurred during this process are yours.

5.9 You agree that MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD Guides or Representatives may take photographs and films of you while you are on holiday and that these may be used on our website or in our Group brochures and/or advertising or publicity material without obtaining any further consent or payment in respect of such photographs and/or films.

5.9 Should you have a complaint in respect of the road trip, you should inform the MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD Guide or Representative during the course of the road trip and if the matter cannot be resolved after the representative’s best endeavours to do so during the road trip, your complaint should be made in writing to MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip LTD as soon as is reasonably possible after the road trip but within 42 days thereof so that your complaint can be investigated. If you choose to write to MyEpicAfricanRoadTrip via the Internet, please provide your home address so that we are able to reply to you in writing.

10.2 Your contract is with us as the road trip operating company. At any time and at our complete discretion we may nominate to you in writing any other company or person to have the benefit of some or all of those provisions of this contract, which we may then specify, as if you had agreed the provisions concerned directly with that company or person in the first place as well as agreeing them with us. We rely on international convention, national & international law which may apply to the services provided by us, our suppliers or agents with respect to any claim of any nature brought by you against us as a result of the provision of those services.
